Last Day of Camp

Last night of camp and everything is too much. The bonfire is enormous — bigger than any night before. Everyone singing songs that seemed corny two weeks ago and now break your heart. Your best friend of fourteen days writes her address on your forearm in Sharpie. You will absolutely write. You will never write. Pine smoke in your hair. Stars through the canopy. The counselors let us stay up and nobody wants to sleep because sleeping means morning means the bus means it's over.
